Spike Lee Unchained / Skyzoo featuring Talib Kweli – Spike Lee Was My Hero

At a time when Spike Lee’s fuss and fights against Tarantino’s latest movie seems to hold less ground and testosterone than Azelia Banks vs Angel Haze, hip hop artist Skyzoo gets a little featuring from Talib Kweli to remind us that Spike Lee was many people’s hero a while ago. But that was a while ago (She Hate me was brilliant). As the the tracks does justice to the universe of Spike Lee’s cinema with maybe a slightly uncomfortable emo touch, I am wondering if Spike Lee himself is turning into Satchmo. Remember Louis Armstrong who saw the rise of bip bop as the end of a descent musical world. What I am trying to say is that, it is not the first time that someone who has been able to crystalize an era with talent, seems to lack of judgement when it comes to understand and anticipating changes. Because this world has changed, (don’t get me wrong, I ain’t saying people have changed, I am saying this world has changed), a comedy such as Django Unchained has every right to be done by a white man in 2013, because it is done with style and respect and that all I ask, and to me that is all there is to it. If you want to bring every topic back to your own suffering and a point of gravity allowing no evolvement in your behavior that is your choice, but don’t make fool out of yourself when you used to my hero. ///
