Soul as in Soul music is probably on of the word that lost the most his meaning because, it does not look like anybody has  a vision of what it really was and how we could have progress with Soul music in today’s world. So unlike many, I am not going to label that Jessie Ware & BenZel track as soul. True there is a neo-gospel aspect to it, due to those soft backvocals, but let’s not fall into a world we don’t do, saying ” Oh yes, i know it’s over there”. This being said there something to the new track of British  singer collaborating with young Japanese duo BenZel  and their cover of “If You Love Me,” a ’90s hit by R&B group Brownstone. Maybe a way to sing a certain kind of vulnerability without sounding too cheesy. Maybe the beauty of someone who’s hurt. Anyhow I hope I did not sound negative because it is way worth listening.
